The healing power of Reiki
Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
What is Reiki and is it for you?
Since I started giving treatments, I have always wanted to write about Reiki. Friends, family members, clients have asked many questions about it or expressed some fear “but what if something happens?”
My personal experience with Reiki has been truly life-changing. Not only is it a tool I use to manage my stress when it starts getting out of control, but it also brings me so much clarity when I needed to make hard decisions. It allows me to experience a deeper connection with myself - body, mind and spirit.
Reiki gives your body a break from the stresses of daily life, helping your body to return to a state of relaxation. In this state, your body is able to heal any damage brought on by stress, injury, or disease. It accelerates your own natural healing process. In other words, Reiki therapy is a way of guiding energy throughout the body to promote your body’s self-healing abilities.
The energy balances the chakras, which are the doorways between the internal energy and the external energy surrounding us. Like all energetic practices from the East (Tai Chi, Qi-Qong, Aikido, etc.), Reiki allows us to manage our energies. But the regulation, or harmonization of our internal energies, cannot be done without the control of our body and mind.
When I help a person free his/her blocked energies with Reiki, the tensions in the body and mind disappear. What follows is a decrease in or elimination of pain, somatization, certain diseases, mental rumination, anxiety, depression, burnout, etc.
With energy there is no limitation in time and space. The ability to tune into people at a distance is called distance healing, and it begins with trusting that we are all connected at a vibrational level.
What are the benefits?
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
Reiki can help with relieving pain and stress, supporting the immune system and processes of detoxification. It can also help with better sleep as it helps you to relax, release tension and stress from your body and mind, feel more grounded and centered, restore inner harmony and balance, and in some cases release buried emotions.
Stress triggers the production of the hormone’s adrenaline and cortisol, which put the body into “fight or flight” mode. Over time, this depletes the nervous system and lowers immunity, digestion and the ability to wind down and relax. Reiki treatment encourages relaxation and strengthens overall well-being.
Because Reiki is so balancing to the system overall, it can potentially benefit any situation. However it is good to keep in mind that Reiki is a form of complementary therapy, which means it works alongside — not in place of — other medical and therapeutic techniques. It should not be used as a substitute for other treatments your healthcare providers have prescribed.
Following a Reiki session we can feel more aligned with ourselves and our higher purpose, and be able to gain new, big-picture insights on particular situations. Most people experience a deep sense of peace and harmony, and a feeling of being “at one” with oneself and nature.
Where does Reiki come from?
Reiki is a spiritual healing art that originated in Japan.
The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life/God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and (Ki) which means “life force energy”. Reiki is a frequency that promotes balance and harmony, it boosts relaxation and reduces stress.
What should I expect to feel in a reiki session?
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki sessions vary in length, but they often last between 60 and 90 minutes.
You may experience some or all of the following in a session: body tingling, deep relaxation, mind calming down, inner peace, removal of unwanted thoughts, alleviation of physical symptoms or pain, a feeling of lightness of being, receiving inner guidance, feeling balanced chakras, aligning with your higher purpose, gaining the ability to see the big picture of a particular situation, a deep sense of peace and harmony.
It is very common for recipients to notice physical sensations during the Distance Reiki session, just as they might when receiving a session in person. Sometimes people feel quite alert and aware during the session, while others drift off. Either way is best.
Expect to feel deeply relaxed during the session. You’ll likely daydream, and you may even fall into a light sleep.
Is Reiki for you?
There are no dangers in receiving Reiki. Reiki can do no harm and has no side effects. Reiki has amazing benefits for EVERYONE. If you suffer from anxiety, experience physical aches and pains, or simply find yourself feeling tired, drained, or unbalanced, then Reiki may be your answer! It encourages inner peace and promotes mental clarity and a sense of overall well being.

I got my certification in 2019 (Level I and II), at the Orion Healing Center in Koh Phangan, Thailand from the Usui lineage and have been practicing since in person and from a distance, on clients from all over the world.
